Imagine being able to confidently explore the open waters, feel the sun on your skin and enjoy a sense of freedom. For nearly 100 million Americans, this isn’t possible due to injuries, arthritis, and disabilities. That’s why Angle Oar is revolutionizing the way people with strength and mobility limitations experience the great outdoors. Our innovative paddling systems are designed with adjustable features that allow people with physical challenges to kayak independently. They open a world of possibilities for aging kayakers, accessible parks and camps, disabled veterans, physical therapists, and kayak rentals.

Overview

The Versa Paddle System is designed to keep kayakers as independent and active as possible. A mount supports the weight of the kayak paddle while you paddle, reducing stress on your shoulders, back and joints. A support post and omni-directional head and let your paddle rotate in every direction, delivering a fluid, energy efficient experience that requires less effort, strength and mobility. The Versa Paddle can be used straight or angled downward on both sides.
The angled position requires a smaller range of motion and permits one-handed paddling, making kayaking possible for people with injuries, disabilities, amputations and other mobility limitations. Using a gentle rotary movement of the forearms (much like pedaling a bicycle with your hands), you'll glide through the water with minimal effort. Each shaft can be shortened or lengthened from 220 to 255 cm to compensate for the wind or the width of the kayak. The mount and shafts are also removable for easy storage. The system works with one of several mounts, depending on the kayak or SUP. Versa is ideal for people with strength or mobility limitations (e.g., paralysis, disability, joint pain) or for anyone or who simply who wants to paddle farther with less effort.

Versa comes with one of two mounts for sit-inside kayaks. The Hinged Mount is recommended as it provides the most stability. It attaches to most sit-in kayaks in about 15 and requires a few, small drill holes in the cockpit coaming. When paired with the Hinged Mount, Versa can be moved forward or backward on the mount, helping you achieve the ideal distance between your torso and the paddle. Another option is the Apex Mount, which uses innovative, extremely high-grip sticky cups that adhere to the floor of the kayak. The cups can be moved to accommodate most floor configurations (e.g., ridges). With either option, Versa be popped out of the mount with a gentle tug and used like a traditional paddle.

What Users Are Saying

As far as the Angle Oar, I love it. I’m a disabled veteran and only have limited use of my right shoulder and arm. I never thought I’d be able to use a kayak. That thing has really made a difference. I love it, and I really appreciate that you guys created something so amazing!

My shoulder problem was preventing me from kayaking. I tried out this Versa paddle and couldn't believe the difference. I went on a three-hour outing and had no pain whatsoever.

Angle Oar was very helpful in quickly sending out additional parts to adapt mounting, which would otherwise not fit the narrow cockpit. Great company to deal with.
