Torn rotator cuffs, physical disabilities or limited upper body strength don’t have to keep you from paddling. Our goal is getting people out on the water who didn’t think they had the strength or endurance to kayak and keeping experienced paddlers there longer! By supporting the weight of the paddle and using a smaller range of motion, our mount-supported Versa paddle and Gamut Paddle Holder reduce stress on shoulders, wrists and other joints. They are a “must have” for adaptive paddling programs, accessible parks, disabled veterans, physical therapy programs, or anyone who wants to enjoy the beauty of nature but may have been limited by injury, ability, health condition or age.

Overview

The Gamut Paddle Holder reduces stress on your shoulders, back and joints by supporting the weight of your paddle. This makes Gamut well-suited for paddlers with shoulder injuries, arthritis or other upper body strength limitations. Gamut's support mount attaches to most sit-in kayaks (and some SOTs) and can be easily removed when not in use. The rotating head delivers a fluid, energy efficient motion and lets paddlers use their own favorite paddle.
Customers love our mount-supported Versa paddle but wanted to be able to use their own favorite paddle, so we developed the Gamut Paddle Holder. Gamut comes with a hinged mount that attaches to most sit-inside (and many SOT) kayaks in about 15 minutes and can be removed when not in use. The system uses YakAttack's RotoGrips to hold your paddle (round or oval shaft) in place between two soft rollers. Paddles of 220 cm or more in length are generally recommended. Our customers include people who’ve had major rotator cuff surgery, paddlers with one arm, kayak anglers, disabled military veterans and people with a host of injuries or disabilities (e.g., tendonitis, SCI, paralysis, cerebral palsy).

What Users Are Saying

Because of torn tendons in my biceps, after a couple of minutes of paddling, my shoulder starts to kill me. Now I use Versa and Gamut to support the paddle so I can continue paddling and fishing with my wife.

I have left side Hemiplegia. I was skeptical about the Gamut Oar Holder and worried it wouldn't meet my expectations. I needn't have worried. I love It. Except for having to get creative with the mounting plate because of the way my Lifetime Hydros 85 sit-on-top kayak is designed, it mounted securely to the larger plate my husband made. Customer Service was excellent with answering my questions and providing installation suggestions. I recommend Angle Oar to anyone looking for adaptive kayaking solutions
