Torn rotator cuffs, physical disabilities or limited upper body strength don’t have to keep you from paddling. Our goal is getting people out on the water who didn’t think they had the strength or endurance to kayak and keeping experienced paddlers there longer! By supporting the weight of the paddle and using a smaller range of motion, our mount-supported Versa paddle and Gamut Paddle Holder reduce stress on shoulders, wrists and other joints. They are a “must have” for adaptive paddling programs, accessible parks, disabled veterans, physical therapy programs, or anyone who wants to enjoy the beauty of nature but may have been limited by injury, ability, health condition or age.

Overview

Versa is used by adaptive kayaking and veterans programs, physical therapists, and accessible rental and retail outlets. An attachable mount supports the weight of the paddle, alleviating stress on shoulders, back and joints and creating a smaller range of motion. It’s perfect for paddlers with injuries or disabilities (including one arm), older adults, anglers, or recreational kayakers who want to paddle with less effort. Use it angled or straight, on or off the mount.
We designed Versa to keep kayakers as independent and active as possible and to get new paddlers out on the water for the first time! Versa comes with either a plate mount or a RAM plunger base and spline mount that attaches to many (but not all) sit-on-top kayaks in about 15 minutes. For ultimate energy efficiency, use Versa on the mount, either straight or angled downward to roughly 25 degrees. Versa can be also moved forward or backward on the mount (plate mount only), helping you achieve the ideal distance between your torso and the paddle. With a gentle tug, Versa can be popped out of the mount and used like a traditional paddle. Each shaft can be shortened or lengthened from 205 to 240 cm to compensate for the wind or the width of the kayak. The shafts are also removable for easy storage.

Versa paddle opens up new kayaking possibilities for people with shoulder or back injuries, joint problems, disabilities or and other health or strength conditions. A plate or post and spline mount attaches to the sit-in kayak, supporting the weight of the paddle and reducing joint stress. Using a gentle rotary movement of the forearms (much like pedaling a bicycle with your hands), you'll glide through the water with minimal effort. NOTE: If you have the choice of choosing a Versa for a sit-in or a sit-on-top, we recommend using our hinged mount for sit-in kayaks whenever possible as it provides maximum stability.
