What Users Are Saying
"... the Rewind could potentially be the boat that takes the crown for best current slicey boat."
- UK KayakersThe Dagger Rewind is, in my opinion, the most fun half-slice kayak on the market. It’s clear that this kayak was designed for pure enjoyment on the water. It’s the perfect blend of high performance in whitewater and playfulness in eddies and on waves. There is enough bow to power through most features, while the stern is super easy to slice, making even weak eddy lines super interesting. The Rewind supports creativity and invites you to see the river in a whole new way. The outfitting, like all Dagger boats, is top-notch—super comfortable, easy to customize. It gives you the support you need for those long days on the water. The Rewind excels at balancing responsiveness with a playful edge, making it a joy to paddle in a variety of conditions. If you’re looking for a boat that can handle serious whitewater while encouraging you to have fun and try new things, the Dagger Rewind is for you. This boat is just so dang fun.
The Rewind combines old school vertical play with modern splats and surf. Whether you want to make your backyard run more difficult or hone your stern squirt, this boat will put a smile on your face all summer long.
What to say? This is an all-around great boat. I personally love the medium size (I'm 5'7" and roughly 175 pounds) and feel confident in class III to V in this boat. The Rewind is the longest-running love affair I currently have, as I'm on my third or fourth since the boat was released in 2019. The Rewind has more of a displacement hull compared to its predecessor, the Axiom, so it carves harder and holds a line better in big-volume whitewater. Softer edges (than the Axiom) help decrease the river's effect on one as they navigate steeper or bigger-volume rivers but still allow for easy play and pivots. The low-profile stern rewards solid technique and makes pivot turns a regular tool in the toolbox. The rocker profile keeps the nose out of the pit when carving across big eddy lines and through hydraulics, and the volume placed in the bow helps boaters resurface through features and drops while maintaining a line. This same rocker in the bow allows for incredible control while lining up boofs. The outfitting and leg position are key to long days on the water and splats for days. Overall, this boat is sick. Relatively light, shorter than the competition, and mouthwateringly gorgeous; this is my go-to boat for the PNW Spring runoff. Get one and never look back! Don't forget to check out the XS size for the littles!
I can't praise this boat enough! I love speed, playfulness, and a boofy bow, and that can sometimes be a tall order - but the Rewind really serves it all. A very capable boat for leveling up your river running or even creeking if you're feeling sporty, fabulous for exploring swirling eddy lines and dialing in your stern squirts, surfy and playful on waves, and with the perfect amount of rocker to boost over features/waves/holes without compromising too much speed. 10/10, will have as a go-to again.
The rewind makes any class of whitewater an absolute blast. Handles super well when surfing waves and makes downriver play very accessible.
A dagger classic. This is the best kayak, hands down to learn to paddle in. There’s enough volume to keep you comfy and safe your first time down a run. There’s enough edge to remind you when you lean the wrong way… and there’s enough playfulness to enjoy this design for the entirety of your paddling career.
The Rewind is unapologetically tuned in to the subtleties of the river. The narrow width, low-drag design, and edges, combined with the tip-to-tip waterline engagement available, make this boat fast and engaged, yet the flickability of the bow and ease with which you can load the stern and trim the waterline with pelvic tilt allow the boat to break loose from a carve whenever you need it to. That said, the magic here lies in the ability to lock in and carve. This boat is a tuning fork ready to quiver with the river, and if you're into tuning into the subtle frequencies that the river's currents offer, you're gonna be in heaven.
The rewind, my favorite design that Dagger kayaks has in the roster! This thing is the ultimate quiver killer! Even though it’s a half slice, I consider this boat to be a long playboat for all types of water. Whether it’s surfing a tall green wave, or running waterfalls, the Rewind does it all and keeps asking for more! The new model with the upgraded thigh hooks is also a worthy upgrade! Total performance, huge smiles and fun, and a playful dynamic for every day on the water! If I had to have one boat the rest of my life, this is it
The ultimate quiver killer. Of all the half-slice boats on the market (or ever made) this boat seems to have the best balance between down river play and river running capabilities. It handles steep creeks, drops, and even bigger water with ease. It also squirts, splats, and stalls with the best of them. I like to rotate through creek boats and play boats because there are so many wonderful models out there, but I never sell the rewind.
