In the early eighties, professional cabinet maker Alain Rhéaume turned his wood working skills towards the art of canoe building. Since that first canoe model, the product line has grown to include over 20 canoes, several display canoes and canoe bookcases. Almost every part on the boats and bookcases are handcrafted. The lacing for our rawhide seats, the hand caning and steam bent parts are all made at our factory in Saint-Tite, Québec. The love of fine wooden cedar boats inspires our craftsmen everyday and we love nothing more than to see our craftsmanship reflected on the surface of a calm lake or a river.

Overview

The 16′ Muskoka is an asymmetrical canoe that paddles easily in tandem or solo. Its shallow draft makes it very fast and its moderate rocker allows it to go straight, yet being able to perform sharp maneuvers very easily. Wider at the base and narrower at the gunwaltes, it facilitates paddling, especially in solo mode. It is ideal for long trips since it is fast and stable.

I've paddled a few different brand of canoes over the last few years, and you can say that they all handle relatively the same in one way or another. So what makes this one better? Customer service. Rheaume handled a minor issue I had with my canoe very quickly and painless. Other than that, this is a wonderful canoe to paddle, whether it be tandem or solo. It handles both with ease.
