In 1971, in a backyard in Malibu, California, our original founder took an old surfboard and carved out two places — one to sit in and another for his scuba gear. That's right the Ocean Kayak was born thanks to a passion for scuba diving. Today, tens of thousands of boats later, we're one of the world's biggest manufacturers of sit-on-top kayaks. Our operation is located in Old Town, Maine, but we distribute kayaks all over the world. As we move into the future we plan to continue to innovate and design our boats to get more people out on the water and enjoying the sport of kayaking.

Ocean Kayaks are manufactured and assembled in the USA, and designed to withstand the waters. All our kayaks come with an industry-leading lifetime hull warranty. Our pedal kayaks also include a 5-year pedal drive warranty. Keep pedaling, there’s more adventure to be had.
Our sit-on-top kayaks have similar hull shapes to their traditional counterparts, but instead of sitting inside the kayak, you sit on a molded-in depression on top. One of the many advantages of its design is comfort. Paddlers with large body types, long legs, or limited flexibility may feel less confined paddling a sit-on-top.
The Element Beach Seat delivers endless comfort and adjustability for hours of surfy enjoyment. Equipped with the slide-lock seat adjustment system and backrest adjustment straps, find your pedaling happy place. Adorned with open-mesh textalene fabric, your beach bum will stay cool even on the hottest days.

What Users Are Saying

It is comfortable and easy to maneuver with very little effort. I spent seven hours on the water pedaling almost nonstop with little to no leg fatigue. It is very stable and has no problems in windy conditions. I can't wait to get out on the water again.
