Overall it's a pretty awesome device. I put it on a fishing kayak, which is probably a bit heavier than most applications. It's not going to turn your boat into a motor boat, but it provides a nice boost for many things, particularly trolling. I did find it clogs up easily with water plants, which cause it to stop working until you unclog it, and at the top speed in waves it can overheat, though it will work again after you pull the key off and give it a few minutes to cool back down. It's also a bit pricey for what is essentially a trolling motor. However, you feel like inspector gadget with your wrist control! It's also really nice to have when you'd otherwise be fighting current, wind, or waves alone. It's also nice to have peace of mind that if you flip the kayak (which I've done!), you're not going to wreck it. The battery lasted longer than I expected on the maiden voyage as well. The power supply is ~25 volts and gets really hot, so don't leave it charging unattended!
