Joe Matuska received his first kayak paddle and boat in 1973 as a graduation gift. After swimming several times during his first outing with them, he came home with a broken paddle and a broken boat. Figuring that someone with a degree in Medical Microbiology should be able to fix a broken paddle and boat, he went to work on them. The next thing he knew, he had a new hobby which lead to a lengthy career in the paddle sport industry.

Overview

This paddle is for serious paddleboarders who appreciate its 100% carbon shaft, contoured palm grip, and ferrule, as well as its carbon-reinforced epX engineered polymer blade. The Challenge 85 is super lightweight. With materials and weight like this, you know your time on the water will be less fatiguing. The Challenge 85's stiff, durable blade grabs more water and delivers more power with every stroke to propel you further, faster. And its eye-popping Polynesian graphics make a real statement on the water. The Challenge is available in lengths of 64-74", 70-80" and 76-86".
